Gimme a Beet

I wanted to create a drink that gave me the memory of being in Spain. The Bold Flavor the represents the love I have for Spain. The complexity represents the history of Spain. The color shows the liveliness and deeper roots of the country.

Gimme a Beet by Antonio Gonzales.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Cardenal Mendoza Sherry Brandy
  • 0.5 oz Angelus Liqueur
  • 1 oz Spiced honey syrup*
  • 1.5 Beet juice**
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 8-10 mint leaves

Directions:

Combine all ingredients into a tin with ice and a hard shake for 8 seconds and double strain into a double old-fashioned glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a Beet square and lemon twist. 

*Spiced honey syrup= 1 cup honey 1/2 cup water 3 cinnamon sticks 3 whole cloves 1 oz of sherry. Put on high heat till simmering and strain.

**Beet juice = 2 cups of fresh peeled red beets and 1 cup water. Blend and strain.

Beet square and lemon twist

Double old fashion
