Cardenal Mendoza Cocktail Competition

Cardenal Mendoza invites the bartenders and mixologists of the world to participate in the largest Brandy de Jerez competition, using their creativity to create new or interpret classic cocktails with the diverse styles of Cardenal Mendoza. 

Cardenal Mendoza will select 30 participants according to their suitability with the brand positioning. Each participant will receive 3 bottles of Cardenal Mendoza: Cardenal Mendoza Clásico, Cardenal Mendoza Angêlus and Cardenal Mendoza Nebulis.

Participants will create a cocktail recipe which will be measured on creativity, originality, presentation, and replicability of the cocktail, as well as the incorporation of the brand in the recipe. Participants must upload their entries to Instagram from 15th July -15th September using the hashtag #GoldJiggerCardenalMendozaCocktailComp and mention @cardenalmendozabrandy.  

The 3 resulting finalists will travel to Jerez for the in-person final on 29th October 2024, where they will have the chance to win a gold, silver or bronze jigger in addition to getting to know the exciting world of Brandy de Jerez in person.

Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Complete the registration form. You have until 25th June to register.

Step 2: If you are selected, you will receive three bottles of: Cardenal Mendoza Clásico, Cardenal Mendoza Angêlus and Cardenal Mendoza Nebulis for the creation of your recipe.

Step 3: Share your cocktail recipe on Instagram in a Reel between 15th July - 15th September 2024.

Step 4: You must use the hashtag #GoldJiggerCardenalMendozaCocktailComp and mention us @cardenalmendozabrandy to be eligible.

Step 5: If you are selected as one of the three finalists, you will travel to Jerez for the in-person final on 29th October at the Cardenal Mendoza bodega.

Prize

  1. The 1st place winner will receive a gold jigger, 2nd place will receive a silver jigger, and 3rd place will receive a bronze jigger.
  2. All three finalists will receive a 3-day trip to Jerez to participate in the in-person final.
  3. All three finalists will receive a private visit to the winery where you will taste our Brandy Non Plus Ultra directly from the sherry cask.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The promoter is Bodegas Sanchez Romate Hnos SA, company no. CIF A11600673 whose registered office is located at Lealas 26, 11404 Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Spain.

  2. There is no registration fee or purchase necessary to participate in this competition.

  3. Participation for the contest is by using the hashtag #GoldJiggerCardenalMendozaCocktailComp and mentioning @cardenalmendozabrandy.

  4. The deadline for registration will be June 25, 2024. After this date, no further entries to the competition will be allowed.

  5. Participants must share their cocktail recipe on Instagram in a Reel post from July 15 to September 15, 2024, tagging @cardenalmendozabrandy and using the hashtag #GoldJiggerCardenalMendozaCocktailComp

  6. By participating in the contest, the 30 participants authorize the promoter to disclose and publicly publish the recipe on cardenalmendoza.com and its social media platforms in multiple languages. Additionally, it is understood that this authorization is granted free of charge.

  7. The 3 finalists will be chosen by Cardenal Mendoza and will be announced via email starting from July 5, 2024.

  8. The 3 finalist cocktails will be selected based on the following criteria:
    Creativity of the cocktail recipe.
    How original and replicable the recipe is.
    Does the bartender/mixologist respect the brand and flavor profile in the recipe?
    Presentation of the cocktail (Choice of glassware, ice, and garnish).

  9. By participating in the contest, the finalists authorize the promoter to disclose and publicly publish the recipe and photograph on cardenalmendoza.com in multiple languages, for a specified copyright period of a minimum of 12 months. Additionally, it is understood that this authorization is granted free of charge.

  10. Finalists will have 2 days to respond and confirm their acceptance to participate in the final in-person event as well as their availability to travel to Jerez from October 28 to 30, before the announcement is made public.

  11. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or modify the competition and these terms and conditions without prior notice in case of catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbances, force majeure, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event beyond the control of the promoter. The promoter will notify participants as soon as possible of any changes to the competition.

  12. The promoter reserves the right not to fulfill the prize if the level of participation does not meet the established requirements.

  13. The prize includes a 3-day trip to Jerez to participate in the final in-person event, a private visit to the winery, and a gold jigger for the winner, a silver jigger for the second finalist, and a bronze jigger for the third finalist.

  14. The prize is not transferable. No alternative to the prize will be offered. The promoter is not responsible for any additional costs outside those listed in clause 13.

  15. Those who have been part of the Cardenal Mendoza jury or have been winners of previous editions will not be eligible to participate.
